Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
Yes, it's retarded that the friend codes for MSC is separate from your Wii friend code, but I figured I would start a thread where people can list theirs.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
As much as I can't stand friend codes in general, having a friend code separate from your Wii code makes sense. If all it used was your Wii code, then that means only one online persona per console. Mario Strikers uses a friend code tied to your Mii, meaning that multiple people can have separate identities on one console. Fortunately every other game that uses Miis will share a friend code with Strikers.

So, would this game be worth it if I'm not normally into most sports games?

Some of the people are just absolutely brutal. What characters are you usually using?
I've seen some really good sportsmanship, though, especially from the people that wipe me all over the court. Yesterday I played someone that was over me 10-0 and in the last 20 seconds kept all his guys away from me and allowed me to get six points in on a super strike and then another point on a perfect pass since he knew he already had the game in the bag and wanted to see to it that I got some points for my total, too. Then there was an instance with another person where I stupidly knocked the ball in my own goal, and the dude took his Toad ran it towards his goalie and jumped into his goal with it to counter my mistake. Pretty neat.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
I've played three series all against people who were well over .500. The last one was 33W 10L. Not complaining, because I'm learning, but I really do wish they had a better matching system. It's desperately needed.
Some questions:
How do I bounce the ball around the field, chipping it, then setting up for a one-time shot where it slows down?
Can you steer the ball after you shoot it?
I forget my last one. I'll be solid if I can figure those bad boys out I think.

Pray to C'thulhu that you've got one of your critters at the drop zone. Quick B. That's what was known in the other game as a "perfect pass".
Can you steer the ball after you shoot it?
Nope. The curving that you see popping up is just a result of the game showing a trail where it's coming from. The character you're shooting from, when in the half court of your opponent and doing a power shot, is controlling any curving necessary. For example, say you're on the back wall near the net. When you do the kick, if it was always straight on it'd just pass it. The game is automatically assuming you're going for a net shot.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
Thanks, but I'm not being super clear about what's killing me so much. The passes that are killing me are those series of passes that do not touch the ground. Each successive player knocks the ball--in the air--to another player. That goes on a bunch of times before one of them just buries it in the net. Then I cry.
Nintendo is great at making coked-out games.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
Hold down Z and press A when your player has the ball. He/she/it will then pass it in the air instead of the ground. When the ball is in midair before it reaches the player you are passing to, hold down Z and press A again. Repeat as necessary, but keep in mind that the defending player can steal the ball out of the air or slide tackle/check you much eaiser when making lob passes since it takes longer for the ball to get to your teammate. I have found lob passes work better on 'The Dump' - the field where it is raining - than using ground passes.
You can also press B before the ball gets to your teammate, if he is in the opposing half of the field he will take a shot when the ball reaches him.
Another tip - if you are charging a shot by holding down B and think you are going to get tackled, you can interrupt the shot and pass with A. The ball will keep its charge when you do this. It's quicker to charge it this way than to charge it by passing around. I usually play with Daisy, she sucks at shooting but I use her to charge the ball up & then pass to a better shooter.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
I just have to ask... I am used to XboxLive and I gotta ask if it feels weird not being able to talk to the people that you are playing. (yes i know how bad the 8yr olds can be on Halo2) but I think i would miss the general communication.

Well, like in HaloPC I was used to it, but at least I was able to type messages for organization and stuff.
But yeah, on Live, and PSN, I get voice chat and the ability to add people that I want to play again to my buddy list. I don't care what Reggie says about Nintendo being serious about online; they aren't. I can't even voice chat with people on my friends list when we do do the friend code song and dance? smurf that.
Nintendo is all scared about predators, and I don't think they're getting that no one else is having the problem that they perceive is out there.
At least give me an option as an over 18 year old to pay for a premium all-frills service.

Re: Mario Strikers Charged friend codes
As much as I want Wii online games (SSB Brawl mostly) not being able to talk to my friends really kinda makes it a deal breaker. Sure we could skype conference call eachother while playing... but that really really really seems lame.
