WWI FPS (sort of)

I promised I'd keep an eye out for this the last time the topic came up. This isn't 'pure' WWI, but the game's timeline begins there, and some aspects carry over. About as close as you'll get in the last decade or so of games, apparently the game's original page came down after it became available at GOG.

This atrocious war began in August 1914. It is now March 1964 and believe it or not, it is still being waged...
Occidental and American troops are fighting against the armies of a latter-day Genghis Khan, who has already put a bloody end to the Bolshevik Revolution. He is planning to create a Russo-Mongol Empire, stretching from the Atlantic to Vladivostok.
While some aspects of this world seem to be true to 1914, such as the trenches and bunkers, you will also find that several decades of concerted war effort have led to the development of some very modern types of weapons, transportation and other technology.

Not a great description, but looks decent enough if you like the period or want a change of pace from WWII. From late '02. XP or Vista (& presumably 7) 32/64 bit.

Re: WWI FPS (sort of)

I never promised a [s]rose garden[/s] recent release, just something reasonably modern.

Isn't 10/02 about the median release date for Mac-native shooters, anyway? big_smile I'd think you'd be used to it by now.

Anyway that's about three years after UT, and that's still fun. Plus it's more affordable for those between contracts, and DRM-free.

I found the demo going thru old discs. Maybe I'll try it soon.
