The 2002-4 period, IIRC, was about the modern peak. The Intel switch in '06 got some folks stoked about better port compatibility, bigger marketshare etc. Shortly after, Boot Camp came along, and a number of us figured that was that. Others didn't and pooh-poohed the unbelievers.
