MechWarrior legal trouble
As IGN reports, Piranha Games and Smith and Tinker's recently announced MechWarrior project could be facing legal trouble. IGN received a cease and desist letter from Harmony Gold asking them to pull down the MechWarrior trailer that debuted back in July.
Harmony Gold, which owns the rights to the Macross/Robotech universe in the US, feels that at least one of the mechs that appears in the trailer could be a copy of one of their units. Apparently this has been an issue in the past, with Harmony Gold taking FASA to court back in 1996. The two sides ultimately settled that dispute, although now it appears a legal battle may be brewing again. (Spotted on Blues News)
There are a few model resemblances, but IIRC it's a complex issue. That never stopped an opportunistic suit when money was sniffed, tho. Argh.

Harmony Gold is a goddamn cancer that needs to die. All they do now it sue other companies whose mech design looks vaguely familiar to the VF's, and stop newer Macross series from coming over to North America.

Heh I need to reload future cop. Miss hearing Sky Captain scream everytime I killed him, then taunting me with: "Enjoy your minor success monkey boy!" Game just kicked butt on a 3DFX board.
