A guy walks through the 9/12 crowd with a "Public Option NOW" sign... a a group of police escorts.
I would love to be able to do that. I wish those tea-baggers would come to my state. I would be there with an even bigger sign.
Was there a black or hispanic in that entire crowd. If there was one I didn't see him/her. But of course if I'm wrong and there was one, that would equate "many", according to res' def.

Whoa... res's link is very neo-Confederate. Do you realize that the Southern Party was founded by the League of the South, a nationalist secessionist organization and, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a hate group?

Well into the 20th century, at least in the Deep South, Confederate Memorial Day was celebrated as a preference over the Fourth of July... just to show how treasonous they were in a cultural sense. And as my link states, it's not just race -- South Carolina didn't even want to give women the right to vote and failed to ratify that amendment for another 50 years.
If you used to live in Chapel Hill, then I am sure you are familiar with Monument Avenue.
A whole smurfing stretch of 2 miles that was dedicated to people who fought a war against The United States.
Oh, but they relatively recently erected a monument to Arthur Ashe at the end.
I like how they depict him threatening children with his tennis racket whilst holding their book out of their reach. He must have been a ruthless son of a bitch...

I didn't say that.
Just like bratboy inserting [white] into the thread title, you are choosing to make absurd indefensible positions that just aren't the case.
Slavery was on it's way out anyway. It hadn't been gone from the North for very long, and if the confederacy had won their independence, it still would not have lasted long in the south.
The division was NOT just about slavery, as evidenced by slave states that sided with the north.
It was very much about States Rights - which the North wanted to reduce.Do you call it the "War of Northern Aggression"?
And the States Right that was on the agenda was Slavery. Still reduces to the same thing.

I live in Richmond, VA and have NEVER seen a black person wearing a Confederate flag.
"Many" my lily white ass.I suspect you've just never thought about it.
Next time you see one, perhaps you will.
And then apply that instance to a group of people as being common/"many""? Isn't that a form of racism within itself?
Sorry, you are way off on this one. Credibility is dwindling further and further the more you type.

Re: Million [white] man march!
It appears that many tea party bloggers and conservative websites were distributing a photo from 1997 of the 'Promise Keepers' rally and claiming it depicted the 9/12 rally.
PolitiFact has rated that claim "pants on fire" on its truth-o-meter.

Re: Million [white] man march!
GOP Rep. Joe Wilson, last seen heckling the president during a speech to Congress, praised an avowed segregationist with a history of Confederate Flag worship as a “patriot” in 2001.
“He’s a patriot,” Wilson said, in a reference to Maurice Bessinger, a barbecue baron who generated a great deal of controversy for his views about race and slavery, according to an Associated Press article dated January 24th, 2001. “I want people to know that despite any perception.”
Wilson, then a South Carolina state senator, even invited Bessinger to the Statehouse, despite his views, the AP article reported.
In July of 2000, Bessinger hoisted a Confederate Flag atop every one of his nine South Carolina restaurants, to protest South Carolina’s decision to lower the flag from their Statehouse, according to a 2001 New York Times article. The paper also noted that he kept a framed letter from arch-segregationist George Wallace at his main restaurant.
Bessinger paired his embrace of segregation with a low regard for Jews. According to the Times article, he defended segregation in his 2001 book, Defending My Heritage, writing that ”blacks prefer the company of blacks while whites prefer the company of whites” and describing early Jewish customers of his restaurants as ”quite stingy and difficult to serve.”

Indeed.
Thus is the central thesis of this thread proven 100% correct.

I don't give a damn what the anti-defamation league thinks.
I don't ask their permission before thinking.Just thought perhaps their view--on how insulting such comparisons are to victims of the Nazis--might be something to consider.
Classic example - the Nazi's used propaganda showing respectable citizens and a few fat, poorly dressed, ugly individuals labeled "The Complainers". Very effective, you don't want to be part of that group!
Exact same tactic the left (particularly Pelosi) is using now to depict the tea party."Classic example?" "Exact same?"
You're comparing Pelosi's sharing of her views regarding Tea Parties with "nazi propaganda?"
How in the world do you put the two in the same sentence, let alone insist that they're 'exactly the same?' That's outrageous.
Actually, Ronald Reagan used this technique exhaustively in his governorship campaigns, hiring actors to play the degenerate wave of homeless people that would flood our welfare state...so he slashed all the state welfare programs, which resulted in a flood of homeless people.
As for Pelosi...she's just stating her views, I haven't seen any propaganda films made with actors.

Many means more than several, not unusual. And it is not.
At least not in certain segments of the population.
To most people, when you refer to a demographic using the "many", you infer that the practice is common. But to anyone who has lived in the South, it is completely obvious that the practice is not common.

It is NOT uncommon. So you're claiming that it is common to see black people sporting confederate flags--in California. Do I have this right?
I have lived in California my entire life with the exception of 7 years (and even then I spent time in CA 4 of the 12 months of the year). I have lived in the very far north, near Oregon where there are farms. I have lived in the SF Bay Area. I have lived in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. I currently live in Pasadena.
I have never. Ever. Not once. Not a african american wearing a Confederate flag.
Res' "many" comment is at best a disingenuous exaggeration and at worst a patent lie.
