It was full for a day.
... you mean my stealth Steam account?
As mentioned elsewhere, I made a surprise find of it when I thought I had more money than I apparently did...
anyway they follered me home. They're like that, zumbies... I never opened it, but the receipt is playing hard to get. I hate that. Anyway, I'll let you know, and thanks again.

back to topic....
seems like people are blowing thru the leveling... so there is a total lack of challenge.
so from what I can gather, you are better off sticking to the ads and not the game.

Actually Penn Gilette on bullsmurf! suggested another explanation. The pictured people really are the same, but here's the catch: there are many people in the US who biologically are advantaged with higher metabolisms than average. Some number of these people also have naturally active lives, and some small percentage of them will receive a substantial though not permanently debilitating injury during the rehabilitation of which they will have their weight balloon up by 30, 40, 50 pounds. Penn said that he was contacted by a diet industry insider who said there was a job to find such people to make them an offer: go on our diet for X weeks and appear in our before and after pictures in exchange of a chunk of change and a non-disclosure agreement. Some of these people will fail the weight loss for whatever reasons, but enough will return to their pre-injury lives and lose that weight and thus show up in the diet ads. Thus they really did lose that weight, but it doesn't mean that YOU will have a similar weight loss.

Very interesting. With these "Number One rule for a flat stomach: OBEY" ads, however, they're so poorly done, and such amateur efforts, that it's hard to imagine them going to all that trouble.
Hmmm...
I wonder if there's a job opening to go around injuring people with active lifestyles? That way, there'd be more to choose from for the ad campaigns.

But, if take the mystery out and speak in a manner comprehensible to the lower orders I must {sigh}...
Found it at Wally World a few weeks ago after it'd disappeared, seemingly for good. No copies to be found for miles. They managed to get a few copies in unexpectedly, just when I had a coupla bucks along, so home it came. But since that bill was overall a lot more than expected on checkout, I've kept it unopened. No joy so far finding the receipt, tho. Fortunately a couple impending expenses resolved for <expected, so I might keep it anyway since I raised just enough for ODST (co-oped thru w/Levi last couple days, btw. Good chance we'll go for Leg this weekend. More'd be good; the new AI is tough, worse with Catch on. Them 'nades don't miss often. ODST is quite challenging, you being no Spartan, and some fights are really intense).
I never got a Steam account, so... when [s]I[/s] the Shield finishes the box- inside a week, I think- I'll set one up & join you folks.
Now go get ODST. I've done my part.

I really can't get too excited about any FPS that allows the character to bunny jump without regard to physics.

Now, Sturner, you should know by now that the physics of this world and the physics of any game universe are different. For example, when leaving the ground in any form, gravity momentarily forgets itself and allows the now lifted object to turn about in any manner it wishes.
Incidentally, another game world law is that the human body stores 8 liters of blood under high pressure.
There's what you love to do, and then there's what you get paid to do. Those two things are often different.

Well, Master Chief is a super human, maybe even a cyborg space marine from the future. So maybe they can jump as much as they want to.
But, I understand that there's no Master Chief in ODST so....
yeah, it's just a video game.
Bunny hoppers are annoying, but they can be beat.
Also, the single player mode should be more important.

I get bayoneted from behind all the time in Red Orchestra. That's the most I can stand. Twitch games just aren't in my area of capability.

I'm not? You don't even have my substantial neuro issues, cognitive and motor both. And a few decades back- those guys held still waiting to be shot?

Evidently you've not played Halo. Air control is minor to nonexistent. That's UT & Quake et al.

It doesn't. You're assuming. ODST has the best physics I've played, one of the best out most likely.
You want more realism, uki wants better AI. This has both (tho it's not a sim- but neither is L4D, izzit?). The AI is, hands down, the best I've played, and gives me hope Reach can have believable Spartan AIs. Ever ponder the physics/AI interaction? Put in a lot of objects with believable physics, you get a lot of impassable objects being asploded to random places. That has to be dealt with by the AI's pathfinding algorithms, and just having, say, 12 AI entities who have to update frequently (say, check for enemies in their LOS) eats CPU cycles like you woudn't believe... and you want mo' better/ realistic physics, too? The 'Cowbell' skull even increases the acceleration scale, so bodies and other objects are asploded faster/ farther/ higher. Loads o' fun.
It takes more AI for believable squad tactics on both sides than just zumbies rushing you en masse, even if things are randomized for each playthru. That's a one-time setup cost.
Night enviros, snipers who actually relocate, players who aren't augmented cyborgs and don't have powered armor that costs as much as a small starship per suit... falling damage is back. ODSTs can't jump as high as MC. There's no motion tracker, so enemies will surprise you more, often moving to take you in flank. Further fleshing out of a series with an actual story (beyond 'virus infects folks, they eat your brains & every time you're rescued, somehow... you're not'). (Engineers, Books!
) Bunny hop, you're as likely to jump into a particle beam as not, so you're usually better sticking to cover, picking your fights, avoiding what you can unless some other need outweighs that- yet exploration is still rewarding in multiple ways. Basic loadouts that favor stealth (suppressed SMG and pistol). But if you're as fond of bangbangs and fire as you've said, they're all here, including the best flamethrower I've seen (my latest Achievement, "I Like Fire" [Kill 10 enemies with the FT on <level x>] [more like 10 in 30 seconds. I was on a tear]
). Lots more, and I haven't even played Firefight yet. And teh pr3tty likely goes without saying, but noteworthy are vast outdoors enviros and fantastic vehicular combat. And great dialogue.
Haven't tried it, don't knock it, assumptions are dangerous. But I guess it'll be awhile before there'll even be a demo you can try.

dude92, you are post mongering
Bat, I like what you comment on for the play aspects. I'll see about it later. I know that the first Halo game was much like UT2K in it's play, so if this is how you say, then they have moved it more into my realm of comfort.

Re: "Come play, My Lord!"
Cool. Despite the short timeframe and a few annoying weak points/bugs, in some ways it's the best work they've done in the series. You can take your time, usually without the artificial urgency that bugs the hell out of me.
One thing occurred to me in the last few hours, tho. You've mentioned being aggressive and preferring being first thru the door... I'm finding that hard to reconcile with lack of speed/twitch, unless you only go first into rooms first softened up, e.g. with pipe bombs.
Did you ever actually play thru Halo 1's Campaign? It's not like UT, and I never bunny hopped in countless hours of it. Not once.
UT's 'campaign' modes were made to emulate online multiplayer. Not so Halo.
