Second, if one did invest in the MS product, isn't there a high hardware failure rate on them? Seems like an unwise waste of $$, if true. Or is that just FUD?

Oh, it's real.

But it's as real and as frequent as the PS3's yellow light of death and the Wii's dual-layer disc read errors.

Re: Xbox 360: More gay than ever before!

Some time in the rollup to the '04 election, I saw an interview on PBS (Maybe Moyers?) with a 'futurist' (Maybe Saffo?)

He posited that that election (unlike what he called 'the missed opportunity' of '00) should be about defining America's role in the 21st Century. Laying out a 'vision' of the world to come in this new millenium.

That struck me as a good point. Of course, we never really had that, and it seems it's occuring piecemeal by forces outside our control now.

What struck me even more was a statement that I can only partially capture from memory:
"We need a politics that invites people to be as passionate about political participation as they are about their PowerBooks."

The ensuing years have made that clear. It is more or less what has occured in this last cycle. Large numbers of non-voters and first time voters got 'all fired up' and Palin roused the residue rabble of resistance that are the teabaggers.

The model the futurist described fits. In particular, I'd say I fit that model on both counts. (Even though it's a MacBook today.)

I can't watch YouTube at work, so, along with your diatribe in which you're trying to appeal for us to care about things that seem important to you, can you explain the context for your concept?

Re: Xbox 360: More gay than ever before!

Dobson has got to be one of the most disingenuous slimeballs in the public eye. It's one thing to be a hate-mongering, bigoted religious fanatic, but to wrap it all up in a veneer of glad-handing, smiles, and saccharine well-wishing...

That's just creepy.

Having read a few of his books, too, I must say there's a complete disconnect from Dobson the Writer and Dobson the Guy on the Radio.

Almost as if the books are written by a smattering of crazies.

I'm sure Dobson would appreciate your spending so much time with all of our mothers.
