Anyone ever tried buying OEM software?

If yes, can you recommend which online store to get. I'm interested in some utility program like Disk warrior or Techtool or Drive genius.

Re: Anyone ever tried buying OEM software?

Amazon has Drive Genius for 50 something, Techtool for ~70, and DiskWarrior for ~90.
The Amazon prices are pretty much the same as what I've seen at other sites (ie. MacMall).
I notice that you can get each of them from the publisher web sites for around $100 each.

Re: Anyone ever tried buying OEM software?

Thanks for the reply Fracai but those are the retail ones which includes the CD/DVD, box and possibly manual. OEM are downloadable software that does not come boxed and manuals and are cheaper. If anyone had purchased one I'm curious to know which online store is reliable.

Oh, just a download? Some software makers do just that, so you should check their websites (if you haven't)

Not all software is available as an OEM distribution.

Most isn't, in fact.

Disk Warrior and TechTool Pro can be downloaded directly from the company. The discounts you see from Amazon, et. al, are from their markup, they take less of a profit to offer it at that prices. Those are your choices.
