Sluggish trackpad
Just got a new MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. The trackpad regularly is unresponsive, especially when using Mail. For 4-5 seconds it will not respond, then wake back up. It's doing it as I type this, too. What the hey?

Re: Sluggish trackpad
In System Preferences, go to Trackpad.
See where it says "Ignore accidental trackpad input"? Uncheck that box.
I had the same concern when I switched over from Windows. Someone had pointed me to this. Let me know if this works.

Re: Sluggish trackpad
You'll notice the symptom the most when you switch between keyboard and trackpad.
There IS an advantage to keeping the box checked (your fingers don't accidentally touch the trackpad, therefore avoiding making the cursor move while you type), but the trackpad remaining "asleep" for a few seconds at a time can also be annoying.

Re: Sluggish trackpad
Ok...in Snow Leopard my Trackpad Preference doesn't look like that. The old System did. Across the top I see "Tracking Speed" "Double-Click Speed" and "Scrolling Speed" Down the left side:
One finger
tap to click
dragging
drag lock
secondary click
Two fingers
scroll
rotate
pinch open & close
screen zoom (options)
Secondary Tap
Three fingers
Swipe to Navigate
Four fingers
Swipe up/down for Expose
Swipe left/right to switch applications
Ignore accidental track pad input" isn't an option.
tnx...

Re: Sluggish trackpad
Shoot, sorry about that. The assumption on my part that you were like me, one of the guys holding off on Snow Leopard.
Not sure what to advise at this point.
Can others chime in on the issue?

I think Apple fixed it! I called Applecare. They told me to go to Disk Utility click the HD icon and then click "Repair Disk Permissions." I did, and now it's working fine. I'llbdadgumd.

Ah, it was a permissions problem? Damn, I'll remember that for next time.
