13* Santa Rosa Macbook capslock issue
So, I've obviously had the computer for a while...however, after I restarted my machine this morning, the computer came back with the capslock key light on. I reached to turn it off and discovered that it would only type in capslock thereafter. I've also discovered that while I can still use the number keys as number keys, their secondary functions, i.e., the !@#$%^& etc. symbols are somehow messed up. For example, typing shift + 2 does not result in @ but rather in ".
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Is there a fix for it? I mean, fortunately, I have an external keyboard, but this is all kinds of irritating.
Incidentally, I am not running Snow Leopard.

You've restarted, done a pram reset,, power manager reset, and repaired permissions? (Probably won't help, but you never know.)
Anybody maybe spill a little fluid on the keyboard?
Wouldn't have to be much, but if the machine is out of warranty, a broken keyboard is the best (cheapest) news you could get.

Check the Num lock, just in case.
If the issue still persists after trying the recommended steps, the keyboard may need to be replaced. The keyboard is part of the top case on your model. Impact, or liquid exposure is usually (not always) the culprit.

I agree with the others--from your description I would look for a physical problem with your MacBook's keyboard like a liquid spill. If there were some software problem then plugging in an external keyboard probably wouldn't make a difference.
Did you loan your MacBook to someone recently? Especially someone who looked a bit sheepish when returning it?
