Optical Drive problem on a MBP
When I insert a CD which was burned with files on it it opens perfectly. When I put a DVD in with burned files or even a blank DVD it spits it out in about 30 seconds. What is this all about. The DVD's are not scratched they are brand new and happen to be Memorex 2X 4.75GB discs. Help

Re: Optical Drive problem on a MBP
We see this quite a bit. Usually the drive has failed and needs to be replaced. The CD and DVD burners use different innards. Before you replace the drive, I would try another brand of disk just to make sure. Sometimes burners don't like certain brands of disk. If that doesn't work, we can help you out.

Re: Optical Drive problem on a MBP
You might try switching the DVD type from "+R" to "-R" or vice versa, whichever is appropriate. It may be that your disk drive may have failed with one format but not the other.
