iTunes 9: Guaranteed to crash 100% when you
Can someone else test this for me to see if it works on other OS builds besides the latest 10.5.8. I found a undefined memory overflow crash in the new iTunes 9. I have tried it on my main user account and than created a guest account and tried again and returned with the same result. Here are the steps to execute the crash
1) Open iTunes
3) Command-Option-2 to bring up the EQ
3) un-tick or tick the box to turn it off/on, and directly after you do so close the EQ window with the Command-W key
4) iTunes should now lock up and eventually quit

Re: iTunes 9: Guaranteed to crash 100% when you
Under the Activity Monitor directly after the crash I get the following process
2947 (null) ranney 0.0 3 2.62 GB 854.73 MB Intel
And the console logs the crash as
com.apple.launchd[136] ([0x0-0x180180].com.apple.iTunes[2766]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault
com.apple.launchd[136] ([0x0-0x183183].com.apple.iTunes[2784]) Exited abnormally: Bus error
Whats the 2.62 GB of memory for/doing? null?

Re: iTunes 9: Guaranteed to crash 100% when you
I believe the 2.62 GB is the virtual memory it's using, which is quite common to be high. (and isn't the actual memory usage) I can't tell you what null is without knowing what the columns are. (and no, I can't check it myself ATM since I'm running linux
) I can't tell you much more unless you enable debug output for the crash dialog and post that. IIRC you can set that in the control panel, but it may only be accessible if you install the developer tools.

Try something other than Souza marches?

Works fine for me with 10.4.11 on my G4 and with Win7RC 64 bit on the other thing.

Patience is a virtue of the weak for it makes them stand still long enough for the strong to crush them with ease.

Yup, locks up here ! iTunes 9 on Leopard.
I got "The application iTunes quit unexpectedly", and I'll be sending in the report, including the reproducible steps (actually Aaron, your steps were perfect, so I'll copy & paste yours if you don't mind).
EDIT: I tried it a second and third time...happens every time.

I installed iTunes 9 on my MacBook Pro with OS X 10.5.8--no problems so far.

yep, yep. I just had a bud of mine from yt tell me the same thing. so it seems to be intel related perhaps since it didn't trigger on a G4

Software Update wrote:
iTunes 9.0.1 provides a number of important bug fixes, including:
• Resolves issues browsing the iTunes Store.
• Addresses a performance issue where iTunes may become unresponsive.
• Fixes a problem where iTunes may unexpectedly quit.
• Fixes a problem syncing Podcasts in playlists to iPod or iPhone.
• Fixes a problem sorting albums with multiple discs.
• Addresses an issue with the Zoom button not switching to Mini Player.
• Improves application syncing for iPod touch and iPhone.
• Genius is now automatically updated to show Genius Mixes.
For a second there I thought the 3rd item on the list meant this bug was squashed, but they must of been referring to a different bug because iTunes will still quit from this one. Get on it Apple.

Ditto, it sucks because when it crashes all the iTunes data like plays count, playlist etc that changed since the launch are lost. And I use keyboard shortcuts like crazy so it's an annoyance that this happens to me. Maybe is if I get the time I can edit the eq info for all 6.5k songs so it will switch automatically on/off

More effective use of your time to just get more people to file crash reports, me thinks.
