Leopard or Tiger for iMac G4

A friend has a desk lamp g4 he hasn't used in a while. It has 10.2 in it. What should he upgrade to and how much ram does he need. I think it can only handle 1 gig? it has 256 in it now.

Thanks in advance

Check out the RAM here on this iMac page http://www.crucial.com/store/listmodel. … mp;cat=RAM

512 MB is "easy" to add to the user slot.

Due to limited RAM and other issues such as cost, I recommend OS 10.4 with 768 MB of RAM.

Ditto.

Of course take it up to 10.4.11

Thanks to everyone, I had the same thought. So 768 mb will handle 10.4 OK?

One more thing, I have some 512 ram from my iBook G4, does anyone know if that is the same as in his iMac?
