Two cops create iphone Ask A Cop to help people avoid tickets...
I bet these guys got some heat for creating this app (ask a cop). Interesting story.

I don't just it. And wait a minute while I pull out my iPhone. Better to know your
4th amendment rights and just act civil.

Re: Two cops create iphone Ask A Cop to help people avoid tickets...
I once talked my way out of a "rolling stop" at a stop sign. I struck up a convo about something related, and then took it in another direction. After a few minutes, we went from total strangers to casual acquaintances. And it's socially awkward to ticket an acquaintance.

Re: Two cops create iphone Ask A Cop to help people avoid tickets...
This has been all I needed aside from being nice to the officer.
Q: What if law enforcement officers stop me in my car?
A: Keep your hands where the police can see them. You must show your drivers license, registration and proof of insurance if you are asked for these documents. Officers can also ask you to step outside of the car, and they may separate passengers and drivers from each other to question them and compare their answers, but no one has to answer any questions. The police cannot search your car unless you give them your consent, which you do not have to give, or unless they have “probable cause” to believe (i.e., knowledge of facts suffi-
cient to support a reasonable belief) that criminal activity is likely taking place, that you have been involved in a crime, or that you have evidence of a crime in your car. If you do not want your car searched, clearly state that you do not consent. The officer cannot use your refusal to give consent as a basis for doing a search.

It's not an app you use at the time you are pulled over. You are supposed to read it beforehand so that (supposedly) you are better prepared if you are pulled over.

I downloaded that app a while ago just in case the Touch gets a car mount with a GPS, etc., receiver.
