Re: Snow Leopard issues?
I also don't like the message when my MBP reboots. I get some sort of vague message about sending them ALL MY INFORMATION for them to use to make the OS better. This message seems to have changed from the old one which made me wonder what sort of info was being actually being sent above and beyond the crash, and so I declined. But this last crash pushed me over the edge and I just agreed and sent. Call me skeptical though b/c I am.

I have some other icon up there now that i have no idea what it goes to. When i click on it, it says open keyboard.
Yeah, Mac's are easy, dur. Seriously, it should be in the prefs.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?
I seem to have an annoying problem which reminds me all to much of 10.2 Jaguar. My Dock icon for the iCal application isn't auto updating itself with the correct date icon. If I force quit the dock in the activity monitor it updates the date fine, if I restart the computer it updates it fine. The problem lies in sleep, after my mac wakes up from sleep the iCal icon gets stuck at the date it went to sleep on until I do one of the above. Anyone else notice this?

I noticed this on my friend's Macbook and he doesn't have a Mobile Me account. We went to the prefs and it's not there. I guess he could command drag delete it.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?
I have issues with the new finder window behavior. If I have a folder with lots of files, and I want to drag them to a subfolder, I like to open two windows set to that same folder. Then I can scroll around in one, while the subfolder remains visible in the other, and drag files to it at my leisure. But now, when I drop a file into the folder, the window its displayed in automatically scrolls to where the files I dragged were located before I dropped them in the subfolder. Meaning I have to scroll back to the subfolder each and every time I drag a file to it. Who decided this was a good idea?

Re: Snow Leopard issues?
Here is a small issue. When you use to create a new folder the naming portion at the bottom (untitled) of the folder was ALWAYS highlighted automatically so you could just type the file name with out having to do anything. Obviously this made things easier. Now I notice this occurs only some times but in some situations does not. I do not know why as I just created two new folders and they both were highlighted but I know this occurs randomly and often enough that I have become annoyed.

Bugs! Bugs!! I noticed that when I open about 10 or more jpegs in preview, only about 2,3, or 4 open up in one window and none of the others are there. Very odd, and the numbers vary every time you try.

Yes, indeed...it only does this with files which have not been open in Preview previously, and its damn annoying. If you keep double-clicking the selected files, it will open one more each additional time, all in separate windows. But if you quit Preview, then double-click them again, they will open again in a single window. Really amazingly annoying.

Ok this one is quite strange... Opened up the terminal and greeted by the following.

Had a quick google but nothing came up. Anyone notice this problem?
Also for reference my address book died on all machines, deleting the ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/AddressBook-V22.abcddb worked a treat. Didn't have smart groups or anything...

Don't know why, but when I restart the speaker output volume is always defaulted to about 75% even though I shut down with the volume all the way up, and then end up turning it back up every restart. A-nnoying.

This is on my MBPro. On my MacBook, the sound always is defaulted to "mute" upon restart. Seems that it defaults to wherever it was at some point during initial use of SL.

Re: Snow Leopard issues?
Well I am not thrilled with Snow Leopard.
After upgrading I found ALL apps and functions VERY slow, the only exception being startup and shutdown.
I called Apple support a few times and was led through resetting the PRAM, NVAM and System management controller.
This all brought some improvement but at the end of the day I really don't see Snow Leopard as being faster than Leopard was.
This is all on a Macbook Unibody. So far I've left my iMac with Leopard, couldn't be bothered with the grief of upgrading.

My over 2 1/2 year old MBP 2.16GHz Core Duo 2 is so much noticeably faster that I would assume newer Apple tech to benefit even much more. Your machine should scream under SL. If not, and assuming you have run disk utilities such as DiskWarrior, then I would send it in for repairs. Prior to this last ditch effort, back your stuff up then instal a fresh copy of SL and slowly move what you need back.

Damn, it's unfortunate to hear that. For me, the only reason I'm not going to SL just yet is that 10.6.2 is about to come out (and I'd rather have that update on the DVD), but more importantly, Thunderbird (my main mail client) is said to be a buggy with SL.

I've seen 10.4.7 retail DVDs floating around, for sure. I'd imagine the retail DVDs for Leopard they pulled off the shelves a couple weeks ago were probably newer than 10.5.0, though I never bought one to check.

are they labeled on the out side of the packaging at all? ie how would you actually go about getting a 10.6.2 retail disc?

Damn, me and my assumptions. Good to know that's what I should look for.
As for Thunderbird:
http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/o-t
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=513680
I guess the (mixed) reports about people experiencing crashes with TB and SL is what put me off; I need TB to work 100% as it does now with simple Leopard.
