24" iMac heat issue
I've had my new iMac for 10 months now. I didn't notice it at first but recently I've found that the upper left hand corner of the display gets uncomfortably warm to the touch. The right hand side stays room temperature. Is this normal and I just never felt it before? or is something wrong.

I have a 20" iMac, and it does the same thing. It's the nature of the beast Not to worry.Probably the heat generating components are on the left side. VaN

20" white intel iMac here. Works machine, not mine.
Same symptom.
Without a technical manual, I don't know what part is behind there, but since I know roughly where the motherboard/cpu/gpu/hd are (not there), it must be either part of the power supply or part of the LCD. (Inverter boards get hot, iirc.)
But yeah, you can basically fry an egg on these damn things. I wouldn't worry about it. Or rather, I would worry, but not because it's atypical.

A quick look over at ifixit reveals that the source of the heat is probably the power supply and inverter. All of the cooling is done towards the bottom right of the display, with the heat channeled there by copper conduits.
There's what you love to do, and then there's what you get paid to do. Those two things are often different.
