Firewall issues: What's the port?
With a new firewall installed, I'm now unable to download data for the Seti@Home CLI or download files via curl. For both apps, I get "Connection refused"
Can anyone tell me what I need to tell the sysadmin to get these working again? Do I need to ask them to open up a certain port? Can anyone tell me what that port is?
Thanks.

As far as I know, both the SETI@home CLI and curl just download files over HTTP. Basically, if your web browser is working, SETI should be working. I think it's more likely that the SETI server was just temporarily down, as it is every now and then; just try again later. SETI has never been inconvenienced by my pretty stringent firewall settings.

Re: Firewall issues: What's the port?
Nope. I've been trying consistently for over a week now to run setiathome through the firewall and it's never connected (HTTP is fine though), yet I can turn to my iBook and connect over POTS and connect just fine.
I agree with you that it _should_ be sending the data over HTTP, but something must be different.

Re: Firewall issues: What's the port?
The sysadmin may be blocking connections to SETI's server specifically - if it's not a firewall at home (I have one on our home LAN w/ Cable Modem) it may be against company policy or something to run SETI@Home on their machines.
