Video Editing w/VideoShop
Just got a Performa 6400/180 (56/2 GB & ethernet) for $25 from a used mac show. Also got Avid Video Shop for $5. I love it, but have a few questions...
1. How well will Video Shop run on a 7500/100?
2. How much HD space does a minute of VideoShop-captured-video at 640x480 take up? How big of a Hd would you suggest?
Anything else?

Oh, and I got Issue Numero Uno of MacAddict for... FREE!! No CD though. It's in pristine condition however!

Thanks!

Re: Video Editing w/VideoShop
Videoshop runs fine on a 7500/100. Of course, the faster the better - you might want to capture the video to an external drive and then do the editing on the 6400.
I don't really remember how the compression in Videoshop works - it's basically a frontend for Quicktime, so if you use the newest version of QT you'll have access to more & better codecs. I've experimented with 7500s and video capture quite a bit - it's actually part of my job
and I've found it usually works better if you use BTV Pro (http://www.bensoftware.com/) to capture the video and then just import it into Vidoshop, as BTV can compress the video in real-time, even on a slow machine like the 7500. Other programs seem to have trouble doing that.
As for hard drive size, I was handling 15 minute videos using a pair of 2 GB scratch drives @ 320x240, uncompressed. The moral of the story -compress your video.
Or, get a montrous hard drive. Check out eshop.macsales.com. 9 GBs minimum. You can fit a couple hours of video on a 2 GB drive using BTV Pro.
