It's raining men on the news.

Watching the news, I noticed a few things. First off, why are there so many Iraqi men of military service age in all the videos on the news? Why aren't these fellows in the army? Did they all ditch their uniforms? These throngs of civilian men have been apparent in videos from the very beginning of the conflict. Did Iraqi men ignore a call to arms or was there no general mobilization in Iraq to begin with?

Another thing I noticed while watching Fox news at a friends; Fox news seems to be geared towards 15 year old boys. Some of the language and expressions used by the anchors bespeak a childish attempt at being macho. It's the sort of language that a kid might use to describe a first-person-shooter. It was funny but also embarassing to watch. If Fox news is tolerated by Americans, than really, Al Jazeera ought to be as well.

when surrounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
and the women come out to cut up what remains,
just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
and go to your god like a soldier...
