2 Macs Same Units
I recently installed SETI on a second Mac. I entered my email in the second machine and it downloaded a unit and displayed my correct user info (btw, I'm using the screensaver in X).
However, I started noticing my completed units were not adding up correctly, one computer was not being counted.
I then realized that my second Mac is downloading the exact same work unit that my first one already did hours ago. I have gone through three units like this so far.
Is this the way it's supposed to work? If so, would it be better just for me to use a different email address to get credits for the team or?...
Thanks,
Tim

Re: 2 Macs Same Units
With millions of units available, I think it's pretty hard to get the same WU on two different machines three times in a row.
How did you decide that one Mac's units are not being counted? Because the WUs finish at different times during the day, one Mac's WU count will always be behind. For example, when Mac #1 uploads a finished unit, it will show, say, 154 units completed. Mac #2 will still show 153 until it uploads another completion. Then, Mac #2 will show 155 while Mac #1 will still have 154. They'll continue to leapfrog each other like that.
How did you decide that the WUs are identical? The state.sah has lots of different attributes listed serially for each unit. Were all attributes the same for each WU?
Let us know more and we'll try to help.

This was the situation the other day... My first Mac showed 90 units completed. While it was crunching away, my second Mac turned in a unit (I know it did, I had to connect it and watched it go). When my first Mac, hours later, turned in a unit, it reported only 91 units completed.
My second Mac had also been reporting 90 units completed and even after it had uploaded and downloaded a new unit, it still said 90 units completed.
As far as whether or not the unit is the same, I just assumed since the information in the Data Info area was exactly the same line per line on both Macs that it was the same unit.

Nope. They're fine, don't worry.
