powerbook

ok, ive had this 5300 powerbook for a while, and it hasnt been working for the longest time, and it has just come to my attention that part of that reason may be due to the fact that there is no  battery in it roll

actually, it hasnt been working since my brother stepped on it, but how the battery dissappeared i do not know.

also, i think the adapter may be broken, but im not sure, it dosent quite fit right as i try to plug it in. here is a pic of it http://geocities.com/jediKnightChewie/adapter.jpg

anyone have some old power book parts they would be willing to sell/trade?

anyone know how fast/how much space these have? how much it would cost to upgrade?

could it handle os 9?

would you say they are reallly reliable?(oh wait, its a mac, never mind, thats a rhetorical question big_smile )

anything else?

Re: powerbook

Ever thought about upgrading to a 3400? Ive been getting e-mails about some they have at OWC for only $199: http://eshop.macsales.com/link.cfm?id=1490-2938

Its not much better but it is at least 80Mhz faster than the 5300. I at one time wanted either a 3400 or the 1400. I believe there was a G3 upgrade for the 1400...or was it the 3400, hmmmm not sure since it isnt out anymore but just so you know you can put a G3 in one of those big_smile.

Re: powerbook

I recently sold my wife's 5300cs. Here are a few things you might like to know about the 5300:

Re: powerbook

dude, nox and mtm, how could you guys not have noticed that the battery was missing?!?! i mean, i know mtm at least was trying to figure out the power issue for a while. you guys know a lot more about computers then i do, and now that i know that the battery is just right there, it seems so simple.

Re: powerbook

I say go for it, what do you have to lose? Time? Money? Those things aren't that important in the whole scheme of things. At least put in the effort, it'll make you feel good, especially if you get it to work wink.

dude we said that it was gone!! thats why we where trying the power cord, but it was for a gameboy or some thing.....

the battery is dead by now, and you have to chage the battery with the laptop hence the need for the power cord.....

what battery is dead? the one you just told me that you said was gone?

there was several cords in the bag, mtm was the one who pulled the game boy one out of the bag and spent forever trying to figure out where it is. the one that actually says its the powerbook adapter i took a pic of and posted above, and im not sure if its broken or not so thats why i posted it.

but i dont remember you saying the battery was gone. would it even work plugging it in if there was no battery?
