iChat AV: Anything new other than AV?
Just wondered if iChat AV was worth the download. I probably would not use the AV features much, if at all, but does the new version fix some of the quirks and bugs seen in the old version of iChat? Does it add any new features (other than the AV stuff)?

the thing for the smilies is now in the text box taking up more room and as far as i can tell there is still no way to get that text box to hold more than 1 line

the way the smilies are laid out is much better, and its a small button in the text field as opposed to wasting 20 pixels on a space below the text field. the input field is only one line, but resizes itself onthe fly if youhave more text written. also, you can use ichat enhancer to add additional lines, but i actually disabled that because it just isn't necessary. the main ichat window provides for multiple pictures now, and if you click on your name, it shows your account name. i think things in general are much better and eventually you will want to use the av features. they're just incredible.
Warmest regards.
Sincerely,
Kevin

I'm finding that with iChat AV the text box does indeed have the capability to show more than one line at once. It always jumps back to one line when you send an IM, but if you start typing and type more than a full line, the box expands elastically.

Nothing that looks terribly good...
Now if only they'd include an option to get rid of those ass-ugly and creepy smilies. (Despite there being a hack out there, they should have the option to turn them off built-in).
Sadly, AOL has done a better job of an instant messaging client than Apple has (at least for AIM functionality anyway).

Selecting a user from the ichat menu in the menubar now opens an IM session rather than a chat session, or gives you a choice of IM, audio or video if the options are present
if a user goes offline and comes back on and you have an IM window open to them, it will tell you in the window that they've gone off and come back on.
It feels a little faster.
