No iChat AV or G5 commercial?
Does anyone else think Apple missed another great marketing opportunity? It's to revive the old G3 snail commercial! And with iChat AV, they've got a kick-ass application that they need to tell the world about. Unless they're just waiting for the final release, but that's just dumb. Way to go Apple marketing, you smurfed up again.

I'll admit they should have at least done something for iChat AV.
However, two reasons why ads have been absent cross my mind.
Right now, iChat A/V is only supported by Mac computers. Maybe Apple is talking with AIM to try to integrate the video and audio. Once there's at least one major connection with another service, they might start airing something.
The G5s are announced, but not yet available. If they start inspiring envy at a time when the product is not yet out, people might lose interest in the time gap before the product is ready, or might get frustrated that it's not available now.

That sounds like the main reason. Both the G5 and iChat AV are not ready for consuption just yet. iChat won't be ready until Panther ships at the end of the year and the G5 is a couple months away. Apple hopefully learned their lesson by advertising the 17" PowerBook 2 months before you could get one.

Huh? I guess you didn't see the keynote. The G5 is actually cheaper that a similarly configured Dell. Besides, how does advertising your fastest machine further this notion you're talking about?

Not to mention a hell of a lot of ads were aired for iMacs, the originals, and lampshades..

We got "Switchers" and rich celebrities using high end Macs now...

VERY TRUE! 
the expectations created didn't help at all. all that waiting was not funny... specially because there was always somebody drooling about their new machine while I kept hearing my usual vendor saying that I had to wait just a little bit more ... for three months!
