Re: iTunes Music Store is lame....
Right...didn't you complain about this a month ago? Then again, just after the store debuted? Apple has been seriously courting other labels, but apparently, many of the small labels are also a bunch of greedy bastards and do not want to play the "everybody gets the same deal and fair and equal treatment" game.
I don't like your "trendy popish" comment, either. Call me and let me know when Iron Maiden, Built To Spill, and the Screaming Trees become trendy pop stars all the kids wanna be like. Just because a band is on a label owned by "the big 5" doesn't make it cookie-cutter homogenous pop crap, and to think so makes you a music bigot.

Re: iTunes Music Store is lame....
Poppish music? I've found a wealth of classical music on iTunes store. And when I needed to learn a Uriah Heep song for the band I'm playing in I was instantly able to find it online. Ditto REO Speedwagon, The Who, the Guess Who, and many, many others. Hardly what I'd consider pop music (by today's definition... originally pop music was defined as what was popular).
There's plenty of non-pop stuff on there.
If only they had some of The Knack on there.

Re: iTunes Music Store is lame....
e-Music has Sasha andDigweed available, as well as tons of other independent artists. The cost is $15 a month on a three month contract and $10 on an annual, and you get unlimited downnloads. There's a lot of artists you've heard of and a lot you haven't, but you can download as much you want to by anyone with your subscription.
It's a helluva deal if you like stuff that's outside the mainstream.

Re: iTunes Music Store is lame....
Indeed the iTunes music store is poor on electronic music.
But at least you live in SF and you get to see a lot of live DJ shows. Sasha was there just two days ago, and Oakenfold will be there on the 12th.

Ah!...You know that there is a Request & Feedback
link on the first page of the iTunes music store.
It's in the left-hand column right above featured artist.
I discovered that while trying to look for some "The Cars" music.
That doesn't mean you'll get your wish. But it's worth a try.

Re: iTunes Music Store is lame....
my only complaint is that the one album i do want to download, is little more than half there. King Crimson's "Thrak" is not even complete
