Today I got an e-mail from a reader of IMG (my homebase) and MacAddict who was confused with the following...

"Loved the review on the Revolution. MacAddict's review, however, had a few discrepancies I wondered if you could address? MacAddict says that Apple's DVD player can pass through DTS and Dolby Digital signals to the card as of 10.1.5. Is this incorrect?"

Admittedly, I haven't read the review since I'm no longer a subscriber to Macaddict (occassionally buy it off the shelf these days). But if the following was mentioned then its incorrect.  The Apple DVD Player cannot pass any form of audio as of this moment except stereo (which includes prologic content of course) As you probably do know, the Apple DVD player it will pass AC3/DTS in Panther but it stands right now the Revo doesn't work in Panther and the Apple DVD PLayer to this date has never had the ability to output any discrete multichannel audio.  Right now the only way to ouput digital using Panther's DVD Player without a G5 is with the M-Audio Sonica and the only way to output discrete multichannel sound (outside of professional solutions) under prior to 10.3 is with VLC
