UT 2003, speed?!
I got back from Macworld NY, and played with the G5s...
Needless to say they are massively faster than anything I have ever seen... they were running anything and everything as fast as can ever be imagined...at least for now. FCP was giving the computer 25% of processor speed, and it wasn't holding anything back...
I also got to play with a Radeon 9800. Now that is an awesome card!
In any case, during the play with the Rad 9800, here I am looking at UT2003 playing ultra slow, almost as in stuck in permeate slow mode. I know they did this to show off the card, but I have been looking in UT2003, and can't seem to find the function they used to slow it down to that extreme.
Is there a patch, mod, or something that causes that to happen? I loved being able to see the rockets fly by you with their contrails not too far behind.
Anyone else see this patch, any help would be appreciated.

It's still in the same engine, right? Might be as simple as the "slomo" command.

Could be. It is a console command. I'll make sure when I've time.

Yeah, it sounds like that's all it is.
I've played around with that many times in UT; nothing more fun than slow-mo low grav darkmatch gib CTF on HoG
BTW, it uses a percent speed # after "slomo" to make it work:
slomo .5 <-- 1/2 speed
slomo 1 <-- normal speed
slomo 2 <-- 2x speed
etc.

I have to try that... maybe add in some insane amount of air control. Excessive Overkill, anyone?

I'd trying it on skilled bots, and I love seeing the rockets fly passed me as I dodge out of the way.
Slomo .5 great setting
And if you do it on excesive, I pray to god that your server can handle probably 100 rockets coming at you in slow mo at one time...

So besides the ultra-slowmo, how did UT2003 look with the 9800 card? How was the framerate?

Ummm... well lets just say this, we were pushing over 90FPS on the higest res, and highest graphic quality... That was average, highest I saw was about 120 FPS.
My Dual 1.25 with a Radeon 9000, pushes 40 at highest, 34 on average.

I can't see how much Unreal 2k3 could look... I run it on my Dual 1.25 with 1 gig of RAM and a Geforce 4 Ti 128 and it is like butter when every single graphical option is maxed out. Am I missing something?

In many cases, there will be no real diffrence, just better frame rats, and quality, clarity, etc at higher resolutions, without so much stress on the systems.
Speed you will see a diffrence I'm sure...
But the game doesn't use all features the card can use I'm sure.
