Getting a TiBook, have questions...
Hi,
I'm getting my first Mac, a TiBook 550, 256MB RAM and 20GB HDD w/ DVD and FireWire CD/RW. I have a question; I ASSUME I can put an Airport card into this beast, correct? That's my biggest concern.
Thanks for your help!

I brought the same machine 3 weeks ago. It's supposed to be airport ready.

Indeed!
I have a 667 MHz TiBook (same revision as the 550, non-DVI, Gigabit Ethernet) and my Airport Card is great! Reception isn't as good as it was on my clamshell iBook, though.
You'll love your new-to-you TiPB!

Yes, I have the exact same laptop as you with an Airport card.

Re: Getting a TiBook, have questions...
The Ti 550 did NOT ship with the Airport card already installed. It was the little brother of the 667 (which did ship with the Airport card). The unit is Airport ready and all you will need is the airport card. That runs about 99.00 depending on where you get it from. The install is easy, only takes about 5 minutes.
You will enjoy the system. I have used a Ti since they were released. Got my 400 in June of 2001, upgraded to the 667 in October of 2001, then upgraded again to the 800 in August of 2002. Now I have the 1Ghz machine. Every one of these was a loyal companion. The 400 had some cdrom drive mounting issues, but other then that, I have not had any problems with them at all.
