Rozzlapeed, ABC news reported yesterday that a higher percentage of Catholics in the USA favor gay marriage than non-Catholics.

So, the Pope is trying to fight the moral beliefs of his own flock.

I think it's the duty of anyone who is a member of the Catholic Church to protest this Vatican gay-bashing. I am going to request ex-communication and make sure it's understood why I'm making the request. My mother will be livid. She's one of the most involved people in her local Church. She lives and breathes Catholicism.

a) whether or not you agree with him, you must admit that morality isn't a democratic process.
b) as I stated before, the U.S. isn't the entire Catholic Church

why would you request excommunication?

As does my dad. We were watching Fox News last night, and I had to leave the room I was so embarrassed by what he was saying about the Log Cabin Republicans. I actually fantasize about starting my own religion, I'm that fed up with it as it is. You can call me a blasphemer, you can call me a heretic, just don't call me a bigot.

a) Like I said before, I believe my morality can be said in two sentences. Since the Pope is demanding that I withhold my respect from people I consider my neighbors, I find that contrary to my morality.

b) Since the Second Vatican Council, the Church in the community has been emphasized, rather than its universal ecumenicality (hence the switch from Latin to the vernacular as the "official language") the Catholic Church in the U.S. is the only part I care about. We can go on about the strange beliefs the Church has in South America if you like.

I was saying the stuff about the U.S. not being the entirety of the Catholic Church to make the point that just because one country is making all these demands, it doesn't mean that the world is.

This 12 page stuff is never going to make it. I'm sorry, but gay bashing is so not cool. Gay bashing? How about some straight bashing?

Even though I'm not gay, I've always wondered how people can do all this horrible stuff and never think about how THEY would like it if it happened to them. Ugh. Some people get too carried away with their religion, they hear it, they say it's God's word, and that's the end of it. They don't do any thinking for themselves.

Falwell to fight gay marriage full-time

Jerry Falwell announced Wednesday that he is putting aside other efforts to dedicate himself full-time to the passage of the Federal Marriage Amendment. The effort seeks to amend the U.S. Constitution to permanently ban gay marriage in the United States. In a statement on his Web site, Falwell said he is "dedicating [his] talents, time, and energies over the next few years to [the amendment], which will protect the traditional family from its enemies who wish to legalize same-sex marriage and other diverse 'family forms.'" An online petition drive hopes to garner a million anti-gay marriage signatories.
