An Ad: Nitpicking, but apparent

For the last 2 issues or more, the small ad for macofalltrades.com is upside down.  Is this a joke or ... uh, is this a joke?  You may leave it like that; it's fine with me, but others may not be so thrilled.

Re: An Ad: Nitpicking, but apparent

You would be suprised how many advertising clients will request that there ad be placed upside down. I find it annoying, personally, but the customer is always something, something...

Yeah well I was the Public Relations Director for my school newspaper for a whole year.  Very true: there ARE very many interesting customers.  Mostly those were the ones that exasperated us with their stupidity though.

Not me, I pass those things right on by. Its cheap advertising (read, low brow). I feel an eye catching ad should be creative not pedestrian.

Yea, but then you develop an opinion because of it.

Yeah, but it got omnigeno to post about it.  And for us to talk about it.  And it is more than likely that a number of the people who read that post went and look for the upsidedown add.

Re: An Ad: Nitpicking, but apparent

I can read upside down, and i understand advertising (for more than 10 years now), so in my point of view, it's a catchy thing to do. not the smartest move, but it stays on your mind, and that is what that company wants. i would rather go for a side ways ad, because it's easier to read and you don't have to turn the whole magazine upside down just to read a 10th page size ad (for those who can't read upside down). but hey, to each his own.

Re: An Ad: Nitpicking, but apparent

I used to hate 7up. Now I can't seem to stop buying it, and I'm not even low on it and I have 10 2-liter bottles under my kitchen table. I don't know if I just think it tastes good now or there is some sick mental brainwashing thing going on between the fact that the new 7up guy just reminds me of Orlando Jones but clearly isn't and somehow i think it's racist for them to think that no one will notice if they just get another guy to be the 7up guy and then throw you off the topic by putting the logo upside down. Man I love 7up.

I never said it didn't work... I just wish people would be more creative when they use my time.

It's as catchy as blinking ads, unfortunately.

Well I hear the new 2004 ads will be placed sideways.

I didn't look at it and I am not heavy at all on the matter... I believe you are reading your own inflection into my post.

Except that the upside down 7up you are referring to IS NOT 7up. It is in fact a new flavor being marketed by 7up called dnL. It is a completely new flavor and a different soda all together. Yes, they did come up with the name by turning the 7up upside down but it is called dnL and it is new.

Right , I meant, <calm>I wish people would be creative when using my time.</calm> Nothing to lighten up about.

not, <freaking out> God damn it, I wish the lazy bastards would be more creative, and quit wasting my freakin' time.</freaking out> Needs chill pill.
