I think he's talking about the 555 business. I for one agree with this man, but isn't it ironic? Ranting about realism in a movie, well, more of an oxymoron. 867-5309

Eh, it was on the wall.

Don't forget that you paid $10 for this event.
But I guess it's worth it for all the extras...
*people talking on their phone
*others bringing their 4 children under 10
*a sticky floor
*a $4 soda and $3 box of candy

Ah yes, I love how they can charge ludicrous amounts of money for food and drink and people will still pay for it.

I'm sure some losers would love to have their numbers used in the movie, though.... why not just have a contest... have your number used in movie (with some sort of verification that it was actually their number)

Re: 753-555-1074....
Being one who works in the movie industry I know why they do this. For legal reasons. They don't want what happened with BRUCE ALMIGHTY to happen all the time. The 555 number protects the studio from legal issues, and BRUCE ALMIGHTY's using a real number was a reminder why they do.
I too hate that we have to use the 555 number, because it does awaken you to the fact that you are watching a movie. We also need to use fictional addresses, such as a real street in Chicago, but a number that doesn't occur on that street, because there are some morons who will either go there or send mail there.
Just letting you know the reasons. but I too hate the practice.

I know the reasons... it's just smurfing annoying...
Why is it not relevant for music? There was a very popular song that had a real phone number in it?

Re: 753-555-1074....
There was a 555 number in a Far Side comic, and while you guys have no 555 numbers, we have some. When that comic emerged here, the owner of the number was inundated with calls. Putting in anything other than a fake number is heinously stupid.
I don't see what the big deal is. Hearing a 555 number in a movie doesn't bother me in the slightest.

You would be safe it was in Gigli because after the three or four people who saw the movie called you would be fine. If it were in a movie that was seen by about 500 times more people, like Dumb and Dumberer you would get a lot more calls.

There was a song by Squeeze with a real number in it, I think it was even titled ###-#### (I don't remember the number). My dad says that when it came out they were saying on the local news that the person got a lot of calls, I expect it was like that for most places that had that number in service.
I never understood why the producers or whoever just don't buy a real number and use it? Maybe put some sort of ad on the answering machine, it could pay for itself.
