USB Extensions won't load

I have a 9500 upgraded to a 450 mhz G3 running Mac  OS 9.2
I have installed a generic (OHCI compliant) USB 1 card
It is recognised by apple system profiler.
I am trying to use a Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer
(a wireless mouse)-  USB

I have tryed to use the Microsoft extensions and control panel that came with the mouse and the USB Overdrive extensions and control panel.

When I use either configuration, the Mac OS will not load up those extensions at start-up.

I am using Conflict Catcher 8.1 and when the extensions are being loaded up at start-up, the mouse driver ( microsoft or USB Overdrive) is X'ed out.

Does anyone have any ideas why this keeps happening.
Is anyone using this mouse with success.

Thank You. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Re: USB Extensions won't load

USB Overdrive (I think) will take over quite a few of the inputware (mouse, joystick, gamepad) extensions/control panel when it is installed. I hope I read you right but try to load those ext/CP individually and see if it works or just disable some standard Apple USB extensions (though unlikely it will be the cause). From my experience, USB overdrive will prevail over any other input command including input sprockets. If that doesn't work try downloading the latest driver from Microsoft. From my experience if System Profiler can see it that there's nothing wrong with it. My guess is uncompatible driver or conflicts. How about putting a space on the 'whatever CP/EXT' name so that it will load first. I am no Mac genius but hoe I'll be much of an help.

Re: USB Extensions won't load

Toss the MS driver extension.  Keep the USB Overdrive Extension.  You've two extensions trying to control the same processes.  A conflict is guaranteed that way.

How did you installed OS9.2 on your upgraded 9500?  I have a 9600 with a Sonnet G4 800Mhz installed.  The OS9.2 installer will not allow me to update as it is not a real Gx machine?

Thanks,

Kevin

Ahh, now I know why you asked about it from the other thread.  I left the link for you in the PM reply.
