Re: 753-555-1074....
I didn't know 555 numbers didn't exist in America, I just went about my movie-watching business completely oblivious to the falsehoods I was being subjected to, but alas no more. Damn you Slade!

Re: 753-555-1074....
then you must have thought that every person in the USA has a 555 number.
and as far as the over priced candy / soda / popcorn, you have to remember that movie theaters generally lose money when all you do is buy a ticket and watch the movie.

If they accidentally used your number in a movie Slade, and you had hundreds of freaks calling you at all hours of the night, would you not be pissed? I guess it would be worth it since it made the movie more realistic, right?

There was a song by Squeeze with a real number in it, I think it was even titled ###-#### (I don't remember the number).
I don't know about Squeeze, but I do know Tommy Tutone had a hit in the 80s with Jenny (867-5309).

...unless that is the number for God from Bruce Almighty...
Incidences such as that are the reason for the "555 rule." There is now a class action law suit in process against the makers of Bruce Almighty, due to the fact that they used a non-555 number in the movie, which has caused people in many, many, places to be bombarded by prank calls of people calling and asking to speak to God.

Because it would be unrealistic if they said the number with the area code in a lot of situations, and otherwise, they would have to buy a line in each area code, silly.
What they should do is just buy an area code just to make me happy.

I actually prefer when, ala Seinfeld and The Simpsons, the person gives out their number, "KL-5" or "Klondike-5"
Don't know why, I just like that.

Re: 753-555-1074....
I know the reasons... it's just washing annoying...
Why is it not relevant for music? There was a very popular song that had a real phone number in it?There was a song by Squeeze with a real number in it, I think it was even titled ###-#### (I don't remember the number). My dad says that when it came out they were saying on the local news that the person got a lot of calls, I expect it was like that for most places that had that number in service.
I never understood why the producers or whoever just don't buy a real number and use it? Maybe put some sort of ad on the answering machine, it could pay for itself.
Sounds like an urban legend to me. Why don't the producers just ask to have their enemies' numbers used?

I don't mind Slade being called up by lots of freaks.

No, I just never really thought about it. Lots of numbers in the UK begin with the same digits, like 0800 and 0845, I just assumed there was a good reason for it to be that way and didn't take any notice.

Yes, I realise that. My point was that if you aren't paying particular attention to the number and its use that hearing the same digits in several films isn't going to jump out at you as a big thing.
