ads
why does the frontpage have ads, i mean, common MA, you own the domain, its not geocities and you dont need ads. I love the new look, but the ads make it look horrable.
And dont tell me they make money, 5 cents per click..........

Well to make this an actual discussion...
I believe websites such as MacAddict and Macworld and other media websites actually do need some revenue from ads to support their sites. It's not as though MacAddict is an online retailer that supports the sight with actual revenue earned by the site. Remember when the Tech industry flew it to the crapper, and there were threats of the site being pulled all together, its hanging by a thread as is. It seems now, that maybe looking up, but Imagine or Future Networks or whomever is publisher this month is not going to support a web-sight that produces no revenue whatsoever.
If the ads were not on front nobody would see them. Just be thankful... I can't believe they are no longer in the forums, where the real traffic is.

Owning a domain name doesn't make bandwidth free. And of course they make money on the ads. The advertiser pays to put a banner on the front page. The clicks themselves don't generate money.
