Re: music suggestions
I agree with jonathanwarden. The Pillows, definitely. Best band ever. Listen to Advice, Thank You My Twilight, I Think I Can, and Stalker...there's infinite amounts of other great music by The Pillows, but it's impossible to list it all. So I'll just list what I've got because some strange impulse in my brain is making me think that people actually care.

The Bosstones, and some of the Mad Caddies stuff(Drinking for 11) is pretty mellow. Also, if you want some mellow techno, buy the Serial Experiments Lain Cyberia Mix. A lot of it is pretty mellow, and not industrial.

I think that it might be good to mention to everyone, however, no matter how good they are, about half of their lyrics are in English. Unless you were force fed Enya as a kid (you know, for linguistic durability), you may choke on it.
Beats The Seatbelts, though. 1/3 English, 1/3 Japanese, 1/3 Made up language.

Re: music suggestions

I agree
Also A Perfect Circle and Led Zepplin are good chill music with a good side of rock. i wouldnt study while listening to music with lyrics though, classical is best. Some cool composers imo are Hans Zimmer, and James Horner (they do music for a lot of war movies; ie Braveheart, Gladiator, Pearl Harbor ect)
really depends on your musical tastes

Re: music suggestions
As far as blasting, these are my favorites.
Iron Maiden!! The greatest metal band ever. That's the stuff. I can't stand metallica, but Maiden really rocks. Brand new CD too.
UFO and Scorpions. Old 70's/80's metal, but still is better than most everthing today. UFO- Strangers in the Night is one of the best live CDs ever. Lights out and Rock bottom are awsome. As far as the Scorpions go, Rock me like a hurricane, The Zoo, Blackout, No one like You, Big City nights, and Bad for Good are my favorite songs.
Get AC/DC's Back in Black album. Kinda dark, but the songs have awsome beats. One of the greatest CDs ever recorded. Guns 'n Roses Appetite for Destruction is a must as well. Paradise City! Sweet Child 'O mine. Sweet songs.
Rush? It's okay. Geddy Lee gets to me after awhile but 2112 is a really impressive song.
Lets see... Radio Birdman, The living end, old Greenday and misfits for Punk.
Also, I have to agree, Floyd played loudly is quite awsome.
Suck it, Trebeck!!
