KaZaa on a Mac :)

I don't know if the link will stay current but to summarize, I just caught the news about the RIAA dropping a suit against some alleged downloaders who're claimming innocence. To whit, they're older Mac users who, um, don't happen to be able to run the program they're being accused of using, namely KaZaa! big_smile

Who knows, maybe their kid is using Virtual PC to run Kaz?

Re: KaZaa on a Mac :)

Unless I'm badly mistaken, you can run the full verson (paid for) of Kazza on a mac.  You can't run the free version like you can on a windows box.  Don't know about VPC, though.

Re: KaZaa on a Mac :)

It is true that Macs cannot use Kazaa, but we do have software that can connect to the same network Kazaa uses. But being as old as they are, I really don't think they'd be interested in downloading music by today's artists, espicially Trick Daddy or any other forms of Rap.

Direct from Kazaa's web site:

Windows 98/ME/2000/XP
Internet Explorer 5 or above
Windows Media Player 6.4 or later.

those are the requirements for the paid for version.
You're badly mistaken

Re: KaZaa on a Mac :)

openFT and mlDonkey can provide a conduit to the fasttrack and open-fasstrack (kazaa is based on fasttrack) networks, and work through many front end programs like iSwipe or GiFT, so while we can't run Kazaa, we can get on the Kazaa network if we desire. I don't *think* that either mldonkey or openFT implementations can share files OUT to the original fasttrack network however...
