New Ti Book Question

Hi All,

I am new here and I hope you can help. I ordered a reconditioned Powerbook 867 for my daughter. The package came and the box was labeled 867 256mb. Lo and behold when I started it up and ran the "about this mac" it says it's a 1ghz with 512 and 60mg hard drive. OK, here's the question..how do I tell if it has a combo drive or superdrive?

By the way I have two powerbooks for sale, a 400 and a 500. Thanks

The same thing happened to me. I bought a 500 iBook from Smalldog and got a 600 ibook with a larger harddrive. Others have experienced that same thing.

Re: New Ti Book Question

try this:
run the "Apple System Profiler" program, which is probably in the Utilities folder.
once launched, click on the "Devices and Volumes" tab.
A SuperDrive will likely be displayed as "CD-RW/DVD-R," whereas a Combo Drive will likely be shown as "CD-RW/DVD-ROM" or something similar.
