LOL....you might get sued for using the term 'fat and lying' in your post! That's Franken's line!
Seriously...what have either one 'lied' about? What do you think Al Franken has 'lied' about.
Sounds like you're a bit upset but not really sure why.

I'm really glad I found this on Moore's site, because I had believed the people saying Moore lied, and it disappointed me. Other good news is that Moore has lost a decent amount of weight recently. The healthier he is, the better. American needs him around.

Re: Everybody's favorite punching bag
This is from a site Jayhawk linked me to:
Moore has actually taken audio of seven sentences, from five different parts of the speech, and a section given in a different speech entirely, and spliced them together. Each edit is cleverly covered by inserting a still or video footage for a few seconds.
First, right after the weeping victims, Moore puts on Heston's "I have only five words for you . . . cold dead hands" statement, making it seem directed at them. As noted above, it's actually a thank-you speech given a year later in North Carolina.
"Making it seemed as if it was directed AT THEM?" I'm supposed to believe that a speech given by Heston, played over scenes of mourners at Columbine was actually edited with the deceitful motive of making me think that he directed that statement at them? Who the smurf would actually even consider that?
Such dissection of a DOCUMENTARY (99% of which are made to direct your attention and consideration of an issue in ONE direction) is ridiculous. It was made to be entertaining, thought-provoking, and to MAKE MONEY.
I can't stand when people would rather cry "liar!" instead of making use of their brain for two seconds.

Unfortunately, he's working on a movie about Bush and the aftermath of 9/11, and I really think there's an excellent chance it's gonna get him killed.

Dammit SS, I was looking forward to said movie too, and that statement scared the hell out of me, because a quick thought made me realize you are right.
It's a paradox of how sharply dull I am.

I highly doubt anyone, even Bush, would go to the extreme of having Moore killed. He'll just be brushed off and discredited as much as possible.
And if something horrible like that were to happen, Moore would be martyred, and there would definitely be people to carry on his torch, or whatever.
By the way, where'd you get your info on this? I'd like to learn more about this project.

I knew that would git yer attention.
Locking him up didn't work. Still got out and raped and assaulted.
Prison OBVIOUSLY wasn't a detourant.
That's why they're called REPEAT OFFENDERS.
Don't let the prison lobby hear you say that.
And, unfortunately, "Recidivist" is not stamped on first time incarceratees foreheads. So, unless you have the crystal ball that unerringly predicts recidivism, shut the poop up. To suggest that repentant criminals that have served their time should not be allowed "back into" society because some of them go on to commit additional crimes, is ridiculous. Steal a loaf of bread = life imprisonment?
...and watch out for the flying meat!

Actually, I have found one typo in the theatrical release of the film. It was a caption that read, "Willie Horton released by Dukakis and kills again." In fact, Willie Horton was a convicted murderer who, after escaping from furlough, raped a woman and stabbed her fianc

What's the difference between calling Moore a liar for this and the libs calling the admin liars for somehow implying saddam was connected to 911?

I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan, and when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited, and asked if I could drive a truck.

I think that's a good question, and there's a good point to be made of that example. Maybe someone else will get to it before me, otherwise I'll do it tonight after work.

Moore twisted, deceived, and in some scenes, (the opening bank scene) flat-out lied. That's not what you're supposed to put in a documentary. A documentary is supposed to be a presentation of the facts, not a deceitful, lying spin of them. The Academy Awards are obsolete. Moore got the little gold statue because he told them what they wanted to hear. When utterly overrated movies like "The Hours" and "Chicago" get Oscars (or nominations), it's pretty damned obvious that good directing/writing/acting/etc. have little to do with getting the Oscar anymore. It's all about putting the right message in there to stroke the dicks of the Academy Awards board.

The above sites is one fo the better responses to BFC, but does not, in most of the cases say Moore lied. Most of the criticism is that Moore puts a liberal spin on the event, and they want the conservative spin to be the "right" one. Regarding the gun/bank thing, Moore stands behind what he put in the film. He did call ahead to say that he was coming in with cameras but did the paperwork and all at the bank in a short period of time.
It's a paradox of how sharply dull I am.

You're kidding, right?
This is a documentary that was created with an OBVIOUS slant in mind.
What a horrible comparison!

That's absolute bullsmurf.
Consider that most documentaries are an hour or so long, and come from countless DAYS AND DAYS of material.
99% of all documentaries contain slant. Any assertion otherwise is completely naive.
