Instant messaging dilemma
Why is it that MSN Messenger for mac bites as far as features/abilities when compared to the PC version and AIM for PC stinks compared to the mac version (iChat)? What is up with that? You think they'd agree to make it awesome for both platforms (I know, iChat isn't made by AOL like AIM is, but still). None of my buddies like AIM because it's no where near as cool as MSN Messenger for Windows and I don't care for MSN Messenger, because iChat is so much cooler on the mac. Why on earth did Apple choose AIM to base iChat on? Also, why don't they support MSN as well? That'd be so awesome if you could speak to whom you wished, regardless of their platform of choice, or messenger for that matter. I know about Proteus and Fire, but...
Proteus 3 - seems to have a lot of bugs still (file transfer struggles BADLY, accounts get stuck as "Disconnected" for eternity, etc.,.....) but it looks great! Also, there are a lot of things that don't carry over to my MSN friends, like my text color and font (if everyone used Proteus, this wouldn't be a problem, but no one I know uses it, so that doesn't help so much).
Fire - Fire just seems a little jittery, too. It disconnects a lot and could use some work on the GUI.
Anyone know if there are rumors about Apple adding MSN support to iChat or anything? That would be most lovely... Anyway, my rant is done... maybe this is the wrong place to post it.
