And again: OSX icon weirdness!?!
Damn, I just can't find a solution to fix this:
I cannot change the icon from my main OSX partition anymore! Why?
Here is what I tried so far:
-Rebooted to another partition with a clean 10.2.8 and ran DiskWarrior....it did fix the disk icon but that only brought the old icon back (was default icon after trying to change it) but still no chnaging to a new one!
-fixed permissions - no help!
-tried several icon editors but they all result in no change!
What else can I do?? (all my other disk icons don't have this problem!)

Yeah... this actually will happen to any application, document, disc, or... anything that has an icon. For some strange reason, if you had one custom icon, delete it (in essence reapplying the default icon), and then try to apply a new one, it will keep returning to your custom icon you had before the default icon. I've found it takes a restart/shutdown to set all the icon logs... it's pretty annoying. Actually, if you delete old custom, so it's set to default, and then you set to a new custom and the old custom appears, you just have to restart and the whole thing will automatically resolved with the new icon there. I don't think this is a problem with just my computer, either, becaue my parent's PowerMac does the same thing. Quite strange.... Hope that helps yeh,

Thanks for trying to help but as I said before, I already started with a different partition which involves a "restart"!!
Restarting, logging out/in is NOT the solution! 
(I have this problem since a few days now so I already restarted very often!)
Some more ideas please!
