When did you get the checksum error? Usually that happens at boot time. The BIOS gets corrupted and you get a CMOS Checksum error.
I haven't seen XP display that itself.
Are you sure you aren't seeing the BIOS spit out errors during bootup?

Yes it was during boot time, I don't know what you mean by BIOS spit out errors during bootup. I don't know much about Windows operating system. Thanks again

Have you recently installed a hard drive, or has the ATA slave incompatibility message just shown up out of the blue?
when surrounded and left on Afghanistan's plains,
and the women come out to cut up what remains,
just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
and go to your god like a soldier...

Ok. The problems you are describing don't sound XP related. It sounds like there is a problem before XP even boots up.
This isn't a windows issue. Its a hardware issue. The checksum error you are seeing is the computer telling you something is amiss. This is happening before windows loads.
What hardware have you recently changed?

Re: XP Pro. problem....
Ok will I do not know what is wrong. But to help the BIOS stans for basic Inout out sysetm. And CMOS stands for complementary metal oxide semiconductor Pronounced SEE moss. this is where the settings of the BIOS are stored.
Just some help.

Re: XP Pro. problem....
I did something stupid. (duh!!!)
I installed a second harddrive, it wasn't reading the 2nd HD so I set the 2nd to slave, trying to install XP on the 2nd HD, I had a feeling it wasn't going to work like a Mac. So I didn't finish the installation, and when I tried to go back to my first HD it couldn't find the system, so I just repaired with the XP CD, and it was working fine. Now I get this messages. The 2nd HD is no longer plug in. and I did try to install XP with just the 2nd HD hooked up to the MOBO, and unplud the 1st HD. It is working now, but I will like to know what to do in the future. Thanks
