"Locked" but... not really locked
When I open Photoshop, it runs through its splash screen and does it's whole big thing - loading fonts, building TWAIN menu and whatnot - but when it's about to open and put up all the palettes it stops and there's an error. The error says that Photoshop is locked, use the Get Info command in the Finder to unlock it.
But when I Get Info on it it's not locked (but the locked box is grayed out, which is curious).
So I'm thinking there's a problem with permissions or something...
Anyone know what's up? Thanks.

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
try sudo and SetFile if you have the dev tools installed.
or log in as root, that might let you unlock it

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
I logged in as root and the Locked box was still grayed out, which is really weird.
I'm not that good with sudo or the Terminal. What's SetFile?
EDIT: I just checked with some random text file on my desktop, and I could set Locked/Unlocked, so it's just with Photoshop apparently.

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
SetFile is a utility included with the dev tools that lets you modify file stats. stuff like created/modified date, visibility, locked/unlocked, etc
I was thinking this might work as opposed to the dialog. but if logging in as root doesn't help, I don't know what to say
although, now that I check, my Photoshop locked checkbox is grayed out too. curiouser and curiouser...

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
Dammit.
I remember this exact thing happened a while back, but it was gone the next day. I just ignored the message when I got it and everything was fine the next time I booted up. I've repaired permissions and restarted a half dozen times in the last week, so I don't know what else to do
EDIT: I searched for SetFile, and it came up in Developer -> Tools, but it's just a 20kb document. It's not in Developer -> Applications.

Thanks so much man! The patch worked, and I'm so happy to be reunited with my long lost love.

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
I am hoping that you have the answer for this problem.
I am not able to trash some folders and files with locked symbols on the icons. It stated that I do not have sufficient privileges. (Get Info in General section, the checked locked is grey out.)
Mazer has the same problem that he submitted his posts on this forum, but it is not related to a photoshop issue. I am not familiar using the Terminal. If you have the answer for me, can you tell me step by step?
Thank you.
P.S. I lost my MacAddict magazine that has the information how to get rid of the locked files - I think.

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
Search VersionTracker, try "trash" or "delete." There are programs out there that let you delete things that aren't supposed to be deleted... things you don't have privelages too or, for whatever reason, just dowanna be trashed. You know what I'm talking about, all those funky errors you get every now and then.
Good luck. In my case it was just a patch that fixed the one app.

Re: "Locked" but... not really locked
Thanks for your advise.
The DropNuke software finally destroyed my locked files and locked folders. Whew!
