QS with sound problem - what's my best alternative?

It looks like the sound output jack on the back of my Quicksilver is hooped.  If I plug speakers or headphones in all-the-way, only the left speaker works.  If I pull the plug out a little bit, only the right speaker works.

Any ideas on how this can be fixed?  Will it be expensive to fix?  Are there 3rd party sound cards that might be better/cheaper than a repair bill?

Can a PCI Soundblaster Live from a PC be used somehow?

Thanks,
Kent!

Check your sound balance is the sound control panel.  For some reason, my sound balance is constantly being changed by some gremlin (OSX?).  It doesn't change much on my iBook, but for some reason my QS's balance seems to constantly change, sometimes by as much 100% (usually 100% right).

Love my QS933, Radeon PRO 9600.   It's plenty fast and sooo quiet.

if there is something actually wrong with your QS, then you could by some USB sound sticks for it.
but yeh, check your sound balance first
