Thinking of buying an Ibook one question to
you pro's out there. I'm really thinking of buying one of the new g4 Ibooks
and would like to know if you can scroll via the track/touchpad. On my Dell thiere is a feature where you can scroll pages on the right side of the touchpad. This feature is kind of important to me seeing I'm disabled.

Don't think they have that feature. It still looks like they are using the older case design. What you can do is get a lil cheap optical travel mouse with a scroll feature and use that.

there is a 3rd party driver called SideTrack for the trackpad that can allow it to have pre-programmed functions, such as scrolling, double taps, etc etc..you can customize everything. look for it and you should have your touchpad scrolling.

it says it's for Powerbooks, but it might also work on iBooks. ask someone who tried it or download and install it on your local apple store to test it out.

Sidetrack seems to be what I was talking about. My Dell has a Synaptics touchpad. It says Sidetrack works with powerbooks but there is no mention of Ibooks. Anyway thanks for the start!

If it is a USB input device, and you're talking about the same version of MacOS (e.g., Jaguar; Panther), I can't see why the device driver would care if you were on an iBook G4 or a PowerBook G4.
If the thing physically mounts to the notebook, especially in the space between the keyboard and the screen, then physical compatibility might be a problem. That's not an issue for something like a "travel" mouse.
