I had decided after just a few days watching Panda Cam that I wanted a panda, but then there were all these high profile tiger attacks and that bear killing that dude and his g/f in Alaska, now I don't want a bear anymore.

Well, $32 buck to get  in to a zoo is a bit steep as far as i'm concerned. I'll stick with the zoo cam.  tongue

Do you really think locals pay that price? I used to live in San Diego and I participated in the Zoological Society annual membership, for $75 bucks a year I had unlimited access and free parking to the Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. I lived 5 miles away from the Wild Animal Park so it was really handy.  big_smile

Well, you're assuming ALL locals join groups like that. MOST don't. I live within walking distance of a theme park, and for several years, i got in free whenever i went just because i got free tickets from people i either knew, or were related to that worked there. Most people don't get those perks.  shrug

Re: Zoo cam

see the animals in the wild instead, you people.

i saw i tiger in the wild from an elephants back and that was the most amazing thing ive ever seen. its nothing like watching a tiger in a cage. there is just no comparison.

I would love to do that. There's just one little problem. I don't have the money to do that right now. Trust me sometime in the future I would love to do that.

Re: Zoo cam

The angle of the camera reminds me of that scene in "Raiders of the Lost Arc" where the Monkey ate a poisoned date and died.  It's quite a coincidence that the panda looks dead right now.  Even its body position partially resembles the monkey.

...or maybe it's just me who sees this.  shrug

Re: Zoo cam

If anyone is ever at the Wild Animal Park, go on one of the photo safaris.  They are worth more than the money you put out for them, especially if you've never seen animals in an open environment up close.  I went with my cousins from Wisconsin back in August, it was a blast.  I got to feed a giraffe!!  Look at me, all like a tourist and smurf:

For those interested, they also have evening tours for couples on animal reproductive habits.  up
So, uh Tria, what are you up to when you get back in town?  hubba

Re: Zoo cam

I just watched mama come in and start nursing. Given the angle, it almost looks as if she sat on the baby.

Then you're in luck! Pandas aren't bears - they're related to raccoons.
(I'm only saying that because I don't expect you'll be dragging home a 1000 lb animal home anytime soon)
I'd like a panda too. I suppose I'd have to get one of those tabletop bamboo plants to feed it, though shrug

Gah! Pandacam is down! I hope this has nothing to do with the wildfires.

I bet they're on fire and they don't want us to see. Too bad. I wanted to see some pandas, flaming or not.

Race Rocks has some good cams.
