Re: Matrix Revolutions
I just saw the movie and I dunno. I have mixed feelings, was it bad? No, was it good? No. The only thing I can think of is that Revolutions was made just to finish the story, as the story had to have an ending.
Unfortunatly the way they made the end was not so spectacular. The first movie had the "wow" effect, and still has. Reloaded was an extension of the first one but was exagerated. Although technically it was just breathtaking.
Revolutions is something completly different. I didn't find a real story, I mean sure they are saving Zion, but what else is new?
The creators could've done a better ending than this one, I'm sure of that. The "wow" feeling quickly became "deja vu" and I think that's what best describes this movie.

saw the new matrix movie earlier today.... it was LAME! i thought it couldn't get any lamer than the second one, but it did.
in my opinion: see the first matrix movie then forget that the other two even exist.

Re: Matrix Revolutions
I saw it at 9am.
I will spoil it here for anyone who cares to know. It won't be long before the rest of the net is fill with people talking about it anyway.
This is just a quick brush over...it's much more detailed with some amazing combat scenes...MUCH better than reloaded!
**************** SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! ********************
DO NOT READ IF YOU'LL WIND UP UPSET THAT YOU DID!
After disabling the sentinals in the end of reloaded, neo is thrust into the matrix without being plugged in, and is being held by the marovingian in a secure place as a hostage.
The oracle has a new shell (because the lady who played her died in real life before filming the movie). She tells people what they need to know, and is then written over by smith. Smith now knows every that the oracle knew.
Trinity, morpheous, and seriph save neo from the marovingian. Neo and trinity part from the rest to go to the machine city to strike a truce with the machines. The rest head to Zion for the battle.
Smith is trying to wipe EVERYBODY out and take over the world. He is Neo's negitive self and they need to achieve balance to save the world, but smith won't budge.
The machines make it to zion, and it's a slaughter...the humans hold their own for just long enough to let...
Neo and trinity make it to the machine city. Trinity is killed, and Neo has a long sappy talk with her as she dies. They kiss, Neo crys for a while. He was blinded a short while before in a fight with bane (the dude smith took over in real life), but he can see in a golden like code now.
The machines plug him into the matrix to destroy smith, and in return, agree to make peace with humans. Otherwise Smith will destroy the matrix and all the human crops. The machine leaders call off the sentinals, and to Zion's amazment, the sentinals stop fighting.
Neo and smith fight in empty raining streets. Neo kicks his ass. But...smith keeps getting up. The harder Neo kicks his ass, the more angry and determined Smith gets. Smith says he saw the end, and that it doesn't matter how long neo's persists, he knows he's going to win. Neo eventually gets tired, and gives up. Smith throws a fit because he thinks it's a trick, and smith finally seems so worked up that he's becoming paranoid...and doesn't know what to do. Neo looks at him and says..."You were right. You were right all along....it's inevitable." and just stands there...waiting for smith to kill him. Smith does. He takes over Neo, and seems like he can't believe it happened...
The machines then pull the plug on Neo, and Neo dies. Smith watches in a panic as all the smiths start exploding in the same fasion that the first smith exploded in the first movie when neo took him over.
The matrix reboots, and the oracle is freed from smith. The world is clean and vibrant, and the humans are still plugged in...only in the world outside the matrix, Zion is allowed to live in peace, and any mind that want's to be freed is allowed to be freed by Zion. We know this because the oracle and the architect discuss it on a park bench under an amazing sunrise. She askes if he'll keep his word, and he says "Of course....what do you think I am...human?"
The end.

How come the only people shooting at the drilling machine were Link's girlfriend and that lesbian chick? That thing looked fairly important, and there were other people with rocket launchers.
Man... those two sucked.

**************** SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! ********************
The only way for any of that to make sense is if Zion wasn't real either.
It was just a containment vessel for people who figured out that the world of the Matrix wasn't real, just a place to hold them until they reached a large enough level that destruction was necessary.
It would explain how Neo stopped the sentinels and how that one guy got taken over in the "real world" by Smith and how Neo didn't need to be plugged into the Matrix in order to interact with it.
and I would also say that Neo and Trinity were just computer programs as well, designed to help find the people who suspect the world isn't real, which makes what the architect said about multiply Neos and Trinitys make sense.

From what I understood, Zion was real. However the machines, most notably the architect program, were so smart that they could calculate the world within and outside of the Matrix.
It really felt like the brothers were hinting on String Theory at the end of the second movie.
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html
The Architect was a program bent on finding one unified balanced equation to describe, calculate, manipulate, and even predict everything in the world.
Unfortunately, the third movie practically disregarded all of those cool physics theories that were floating around the second movie. The brothers got too caught up in Zion. They should have taken more time explaining the Architect's speech (since most of us really really wanted to see that), and why Neo could do what he could in the real world.
Moreover, They should of freed at least a FEW pod people for us.
Stupid pods.

Re: Matrix Revolutions
Well, wait a minute. Millions arent enslaved. According to the rule introduced in the first movie, they should all be dead. Smith assimilated everyone that was in the Matrix, IE all humans that arent freed. When the Machine used Neo to destroy all of the Smiths, didnt it just kill the minds of every person therefore killing their physical bodies and thusly destroying the machine's power source? The only people they showed at the end inside the matrix were the rogue programs.

Ooh, that's a good point.
In that case, it makes even less sense. Why would the machines agree to let Neo destory their power source?
Because Smith would spread from just attacking their power source to attacking the machines themselves? Maybe? I'm a bit confused, but I'm making as much sense as I can out of it.
It's probably like the 1st one, where you need to watch it a couple times before EVERYTHING starts coming out at you.

Re: Matrix Revolutions
*thinking*
And so, the machine's creation had gotten out of control (mr smith who was threatening to infest the machines), and needed Neo to destroy him since they couldn't. This is what caused the machines to make peace, right? And since they were going to co-exist peacefully, then they couldn't go around using humans as batteries any more. They'd move on and figure out other ways of getting energy.
I'm not sure if that's correct, but that's my understanding. And, I don't know how to explain Neo doing what he does in the real world. I was thinking that it is a matrix within a matrix. There may be more, but what's it matter? Perception is reality.

Re: Matrix Revolutions
I was gonna hold off on my understanding of the end, due to spoilers, but that seems to be worthless now.
Anyway, here goes. In Reloaded, the Architecht tells Neo that there have been many Zions before. Each was nearly destroyed, but the One returned to the Source, and Zion was allowed to rebuilt some, then attacked again, and the cycle repeats.
So in Revolutions, Zion is nearly destroyed, but Neo returns to the Source, and Zion is allowed to rebuild some.
Hehehe....
I'm guessing that Zion will be attacked again, humanity will stil be fighting their pointless war that is all controlled by the machines anyway, and sometime down the road, and new One will come again, and history will repeat itself. Full revolution. Back to the start.
Basically, the Architecht was right all along, the One is a construct of the Machines, and the so-called "Peace" is simply to allow the humans to rebuild some so the machines will have some power after everyone in the Matrix dies.
The peace is not real, and everything went according to plan of the Machines. And so, I think the ending ruled.

MATRIX REVOLUTIONS
ROTTEN
This movie is getting terrible reviews. Does anyone really care about the characters in these movies? I don't. I don't give a damn if Neo is the one, or if Zion survives blah blah blah...The reason for that is because the film makers don't care. They fail to give any audience member a reason to have any emotional investment.
I watched Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade tonight. That movie has it all; action, adventure, romance, humour, and heart. I really cared about the relationship between Indiana and his father. I can't say the same for Neo and Trinity.

I think you're letting the movie get to you just a touch too much. I mean, what were you expecting from it? The store is like 5 or 6 years old so you're obviously not going to be as impressed by some of the things as you have been in recent years. The actors are the same so you couldn't have thought that they would be getting better. What was it that got you to hype yourself up so much?
