Lol apple wont have that......
Think about it their whole powerbook line is g4.....
they want to dress the g5 up as god....now if they want to keep both ends happy...it just wont work lol
what are they gonna say the g5 owns the g4!!! then have people go wait so powerbooks suck?
or are they gonna say the g4's are almost as good as the g5....then people would be like umm why not just get a refurb or used tower...or a powerbook....

ar...G5 is a lot faster then all but dp G4 1.4 in most application. MacWorld Dec issue.

macaddict september issue did a hardware comparison between the G5 and G4.
as to be expected the G5s hardware shat all over the G4s.
no performance tests in that issue tho.

If I'm not mistaken MacAddict December issue has comparison on Dual G5 2Ghz, G5 1.8 & Dual G4 1.42. What I'd like to see, though, is an extended test on Photoshop. Some people have reported performance boosts after moving Photoshop scratch disk to a different HD (not just a different partition.) Maybe next time, when G5 line is updated?
