Thanks, Doc and Levi. I'll send my logs on to MacSoft. I have my original log, and then the fresh one that just started with the re-install. UT hasn't crashed, it just bumps me off games, a history of which doesn't seem to show up in the log.

My previous install I'd used Ryan Gordon's audio hack for Revolution sound cards, his openal.dylib file. I left out his hack in my latest install, trying to narrow down the variables.

It looks like I'll be forced to game away today, testing the Announcer solution. Poor me. big_smile

As long as your here, have you had any luck with the Ion Painter? I've been trying it on bots and online, but no big Boom Booms happen. I've seen others use it to great effect. Do you simply fire the gun at your target, and then Alt. Fire?

I wonder if the audio hack for the Revolution cards is now included in Ryan's OpenAL

First I would think the new patch would contain any hacks and tweaks upto now.

The Ion doesn't need a moving target. You just have to hold your aim long enough. If you can guess where a FC is going, you just need to aim at the ground. What I do is to aim at a flag base (Lava or Mythos) fire the Ion then go in and take the flag. You need to have a steady aim for like 10 seconds for Ion to "accquire" an area to fire on.

There are a number of announcer voices out there. Heck even Eko made one using his wife's voice. Maybe one of those will work better for you.

Also I'd sent a copy of the log to MacSoft's support. They may have some better news and other things to try.

Yeah, the Aroused Announcer is over the top, but the stock one sounds like some stupid wrestling emcee. Evil sounds more like the old UT99 Announcer. It's not a custom announcer.

I'm checking my most recent log and am seeing a lot of new errors with the stock announcer, too for ex.:

OK, after changing the Announcer back to the default, I've been able to play for hours with only the usual spikes we all get. I've been hanging on the ur^ servers (DOM, DM, and CTF). They seem to be well run servers, but previously I was getting bumped each time I logged on.

After spending a lot of afternoons surfing DM servers populated with ppl who've been playing the game for a year (in other words I don't even see them coming), I finally got on a crowded ur^ DM server tonight, and man, it wasn't like any of the lame stuff I've been seeing in the afternoon. It was as fun as UT99 for me, with a mix of players with various skill levels.

Aw, shucks, Levi. I have your server in my Favs tab, and always check to see if anyone's on it when I boot 2k3.

I wish there was a way you could let me know ppl are up for gaming. If I could get registered in utchat I could at least be available. For some reason I can't register.

Regardless, I'm just so psyched to have the game up and running smooth!

Brain, you've mentioned the ur^ servers several times. I've found the DM server (and gotten my but kicked around) but I can't seem to find the DOM and CTF servers. Do you have IPs?

Hmmm, their DOM server is in my Favs but it shows up as N/A at the moment. I saw a note flash at the begininng of a DOM match yesterday that they were going to take it down for some reason. The note went by really fast.

Their website lists their CTF server as:

Here's a new one, I got booted off their DM server today by what I assume was some kinda of auto-kick Mutator. It said I had a "modified package" before I was disconnected. Whatever else I've done to my "package", I sure haven't modified it, although i get a lot of spam offering to do so for me. big_smile

I've been logging into clanma at LeviUT2K3. So if you see me in there as that, then we're on the server, and I normally don't play alone.

Last night we had Myself, DocB, Loup, Mr. Cigar, DrDan, DocSavage and Wang. Hells yes Wang of all people joined us last night. Great time!!
