Real Silly iPhoto Question
I'm the proud papa of a new digital camera and am trying to use iPhoto for the first time. After I hook up the USB cable and fire the camera up Image Capture opens and asks several questions. The one that's giving me problems is the first, which it's asking where I want to "Download To". I'm under the impression that if I choose the correct folder, all the images will automatically show up in the iPhoto's Photo Library. So far I haven't had any luck. The only way I can get images into the Photo Library is to import from the camera to whatever folder I choose, THEN import from the iPhoto window (which makes a copy of the original). Please tell me that it's smart enough to put the images directly into the Photo Library!

Re: Real Silly iPhoto Question
Open ImageCapture, go under preferances/camera, then choose iPhoto when camera is connected

Re: Real Silly iPhoto Question
I don't see an option to do that in the preferences. Camera is connected and showing up properly in Image Capture but I need to know what folder to choose to Download To.

Re: Real Silly iPhoto Question
When you're in Image Capture, selecting Image Capture-->Preferences should open a window that has among other things, a popup menu next to text that reads "When a camera is connected, open:". As wstubbe said, pick iPhoto.
That should open iPhoto when you plug in your camera.
However, if you want to bypass the auto application opening, just start iPhoto, click on the Import button, then plug in your camera. It should show up at the bottom of the iPhoto window. Then you can click the Import button in the bottom right corner. That will put the photos in your iPhoto library.
When you download photos using Image Capture, it's just like any file copying exercise...your photos are copied to the folder of your choice, unrelated to iPhoto.
