Questions about unlocking a cell phone
I have a Motorola v.70 that I used to use with T-Mobile here in Cincinnati. I am switching to a different service and would like to sell my v.70 on Ebay or to a friend. (I know I can transfer the number to a friend but, I've had problems w/ that in the past). Currently, when I turn on my V.70 the display tells me that my SIM card is unregistered. Does this mean the phone is unlocked? I want it so I can either sell it with the SIM card, or so someone could just buy their own card and use it in the phone. I just dont want to end with a bill because the SIM was infact still in my name, or whatever. I know companies offer to unlock phones for like $40, but thats a waste. Basically, if it says the SIM is unregistered, is it free to use with another SIM, or register the current SIM?
Thanks,
Ben

Re: Questions about unlocking a cell phone
You dont sell phones with SIM cards. never.
there are things you can do with a sim card, you know.
If you dont use the card, destory it.
Usually phones are locked to a crarrier, and you have to unlock the phone, there are some shops that can do it.
Look at your documentation to see if the phone is locked, or ask someone who uses a different carrier for help, try swaping the SIM card.
