UT2K3 Server Online
Yeehaw it's back! I feel better about this round. Everything went well, better than the first install. No crashes or other bad voodoo/mojo that happened the first round.
The IP addy is 208.57.175.110 Password: MA

and a better place to get maps, finally one stop shopping. You will have to convert the .uz files. For windoze, UCC is the app that converts. A good place to start for maps
DocB Tip:
In Unreal Tournament 2003.app in the System folder there is an executable called ucc-bin. This is the ucc compression/decompression program for UT. The easiest way to use it is
1. Open a Terminal window
2. Show Package Contents on Unreal Tournament 2003.app
3. Open the System folder in UT2K3.app and find ucc-bin
4. Drag ucc-bin to the Terminal window which gives you the path to the command
5. In the Terminal window right after the "ucc-bin " type "decompress "
6. Drag the .uz2 file you want to decompress to the Terminal window and hit return
7. The decompressed file will be placed in your ~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2003/System folder. Since I had the .uz2 file on my Desktop a Users/<my user name>/Desktop/<uncompressed file> was created in the System folder.
Still need to get the mods and custom maps (MTM's Eko's & Mine).
What you'll need:
UT2K3 V2225, Epic & De Bonus packs
Community Bonus Pack **NEW**
MapVote400b11
CUT2 map pack (!!Don't need the whole Mod, we're not running it, but there is a stand alone map pack. That is what you want!!)

OSFG Tip:
I've come across a little tip that has helped me run maps that crash UT2K3. If you look in the UT2003.log file in your Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2003/System folder after a crash, sometimes you'll see an error message about not being able to open some music file (they end in ".ogg"). For whatever reason, it seems like sometimes the music file doesn't download with a map. When you try to play that map, the game will crash. One simple fix is to note the name of the music file the game was looking for, then copy one of your existing music files to that name. You probably won't have the music the map designer intended, but the map will now work. If you have something like VLC that plays .ogg files you can preview your existing music files and pick one that seems to fit the map.

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
Hi-tech hand signals to the contrary, Doc, I wasn't able to make it last night. I'm still getting over the 123 punch of sinusitis, bronchitis, and asthma. After dinner I had a coughing fit that sent me to bed early.
I wonder if one of those old Mac mics + the Griffin iMic would get my iChatAV to the point where we can actually talk.

I'm not sure if the full version is any better, but the same person who's working on UTX is working on a new version of OpenAL which should give it a significant speed boost. I'd say that it's worth a shot.

This may help.
Have you tried setting things up through your powerbook? My camera is set up on my powerbook and the audio input is via the pb built in mic. I would think that the iMic should work as well.
Got on last night and Levi was whaling away on me when my cable went down
Didn't come back up till after midnight. So I was out of the game. Going to Deep Creek this weekend so no UT till Sunday night.

So that's what happened. I didn't notice until the game was over. I thought you started doing what I was doing. Playing D and letting the bots have O.
I was like "where is Doc!?! Man I hope I didn't piss'em off by camping the flag and having the bots do the work."
Just so ya know Doc. Any one of our fire fights could've gone either way. Like the cap you all most had, if you hadn't blown your self two steps away. That was classic! You almost had me, I was left with 20 health after that blast.

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
I'll try hopping on the server just to see what pings are like in 2k3. Once I get all the d/ling done, i'll jump on. But that wont be for another 3-6 months (figure it would take me that long to get all the d/ls done
).

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
Server down!
So last night I went over to th ur^ DM server and met up with DocB briefly. I highly recommend this server if you like DM. Look for it in the DM server browser (and at all costs watch out for a player there named elmo; he's the shiz). Last night I even got in some games with players at my lowly skill level and even won a match (first time EVER!).

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
I second Brain's recommendation about the DM server.
Last night for some reason I had horrendous lag no matter where I went. It went away later so I suspect that it was some problem with my ISP.
Another CTF server that I have found good to play on is [BBR]clanspace.comUT01-CTF ip = 209.123.205.212. Many very good players on here.

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
Thanks for the CTF server tip, Doc. I'll pop that into my Favs.
I figured you were having problems, and that's why you cut out. You can always safely assume that's why I log off mysteriously. I still get the occasional ghost problem on certain maps like DM-Bloom and CTF-CampingGrounds2003 (a great QIII conversion).
I switched to the Evil Announcer just to test my belief that this was the cause of my ghosting problems and was unable to join any games on any server: weird.

Re: UT2K3 Server Online
Roger that guys, the server crashed some time late Friday - Saturday afternoon. My blue screens have changed into hard locks that force me to just turn the thing off. I also know that my firewall has dropped some attacks to it. Mostly DoS and PoD attacks, maybe I should try to get XP Pro to work.

By the way, I do believe the good folks at |Robot| have a server. Maybe we should see if we can put together some sort of friendly get-together?
